Date: 15.05.2002 Flying Ford Super vet' Mike Ford (23m 27s) eclipsed the competition to secure his 1st win of the season in his club's 10 mile time trial on the Fosse Way course in less than favourable conditions. In the absence of John Herring he leapfrogged from a previous 5th place over a similar distance, to prevent Dave Bennett (23 49) from winning his 1st evening event of the year. Ford has kept a relative low profile recently, choosing to concentrate on specialised training, which is now proving worthwhile. Tony Smith (24 00) and Phil Burridge (24 29) were the only other competitors within a minute of Ford's finishing time but Richard Gostick (25 29) made good use of the warm conditions to make a sizeable improvement of 1m 10s over his previous effort, just two weeks ago. |
