Leamington C&AC is very active club, competing in Track & field, Road
running and Cross Country running.
To support this the club enters various leagues and competitions giving
athletes the opportunity to do their best and compete as a team. The club
caters for all levels of ability, providing competition at every level for its
members.
Below is a list of all the leagues and competitions entered by the club:
Track & Field
Midland Men's League For Senior, veteran and junior men. All track and field events are
contested, requiring two athletes per event. The club is currently in
Division 3. Consists of 4 meetings normally held on Saturdays.
Midland Ladies League The main competition for women, covering all track & field events.
Starting from U15's and older, consists of 3 meetings which are held on
Sundays.
Masters (Veterans) League For veteran men and women over the age of 35, competing in various
age categories. Normally held on Wednesday evenings and consisting of 4
meetings and an end of year final.
National Junior League League for our older junior athletes only, U17 & U20 men and women
competing in all events. 4 meetings are held throughout the season on
Sundays.
Young Athletes League A league for the younger members of the club U13 to U17 boys and
girls, competing
in all disciplines of track and field. A great way for children to learn the
sport and develop their skills. Meetings are held on 5 Sundays through the
summer.
Regional Championships The club has athletes competing in various championships throughout
the year, ranging from county to national standard. There also multi event
competitions. They cover all age groups and the club has hosted the
Warwickshire County Championships on numerous occasions.
Sports Hall Throughout the winter our juniors U11 to U15 boys and girls compete
indoors in a number of fun events, introducing kids to athletics in a fun
atmosphere.
Club Events The club holds its club championships events throughout the year,
with members scoring points for each event they compete in. This culminates
in a two day championship weekend in September. The club has held these
championships for over 70 years, and they have grown to include all age groups.
The club also runs an annual Hour Track Race held in September, it is
one of the few of its kind left in the UK.
Road Running
Road Relays There are a number of road relays throughout the year for both
juniors and seniors. Seniors compete in Midland and National 12 stage and 6
stage relays, there are also the Warwickshire Road relays held in March /
April time. We have a great history of doing well in the Junior versions of
these relays also, having medaled numerous times.
Cotswold's Hilly 100 A 100 mile relay held in the Cotswold's in May / June time. The race
comprises of 10 - 10mile legs through some beautiful scenery and huge hills!
The club usually has 2 teams and is open to senior men and women. The club
won the most recent edition of the race organised by Stratford AC.
Warwickshire Road Race League A race series held throughout the road season, comprising of 5km,
5mile, 10km, 10mile and Half Marathon distances. These races usually include
Warwickshire Championship events.
East Midlands Road Race League Comprising of 8 events held throughout the East midlands of 5mile
and 10km distances. Many senior members of the club attend these popular
events which are well supported by local clubs.
Open Road Races Club members compete in a variety of events around the country
including Ultra races.
Two Castles 10km An event organised by the Rotary club of Kenilworth, the club has
supported the event for a number of years. There is normally a big turn out
of club members competing in the event. Usually held in June it is run from
Warwick castle to Kenilworth Castle
London Marathon The club regularly has a number of athletes competing in the UK's
most famous race. As an affiliated club we have 3 places annually to
allocate to club members.
Club Races The club holds 3 club road races each year, two 4 mile events in the
summer and a 10 mile road race from Warwick Racecourse in March / April
time. We also organise the Xmas Day race, a 3.7 mile fun run held on
Christmas Morning.
Cross Country
Birmingham Cross Country League The main league competition the senior and junior men enter.
Consists of 4 races on Saturdays throughout the season, with regular turnouts of over 15
athletes.
Midland Ladies Cross Country League Our growing ladies section compete in this league, with 4 races in a
season. It is open to Senior and Junior women and is proving to be an
excellent stepping stone for our ladies sections growth.
Gloucestershire Cross Country League Open to all age groups, the club sends a strong team down to each of
the 4 meetings a season which are held on Saturdays.
West Midlands Young Athletes League Open to U11 to U17 age groups both boys and girls. The club has been
entering this league, recognised as one of the strongest in the country, for many years, and has helped develop many young
athletes through the years. There are 5 races through the season held on
Sundays.
Regional Championships The club enters into County, Regional and National Championships,
with many athletes being selected to represent the county at the Inter
Counties Championships. The club has a great history of doing well in the
Warwickshire championships, with many individual and team wins to its name.
We also regularly hold both the Warwickshire and Midland Championships with
great success, building on the clubs reputation of holding excellent events
at our course on Newbold Comyn.
Regional Cross Country Relays We enter both regional cross country relays and send teams the
national event also.
Open Cross Country and Fell races Athletes regularly compete in the UK Challenge events around the
country. Many senior athletes also travel to fell races such as the
Hartshill Heartbreaker and Mortimer Forest Hill Race.
Club Races The club promotes its own club events, a Autumn Handicap in October
or November, Christmas Handicap and Club Championships in March.
