Steve Walker - Editor of Spokes and National '10' organiser... I hope I have managed to mention everyone who helped on the day of the National '10' via email . If I missed you out, I apologise, it seemed at one point that the whole Club had been in the hall. If you missed the event, you missed something quite special, I have had no end of complements from competitors and helpers, as well as favourable comments from national press. David Taylor, who writes for Cycling Weekly (CW) phoned me the day after to say that we had set a new standard in organization. Just this week, Karl Strugnell, a medal-contender in the Juniors' event has a letter in CW praising the Club. The editor put it in as "Letter of the Week"! This is all due in no small part to the many offers of help from the members of this fine Club. Nev Gregg Nev passed away recently, after a long illness. I have only met him once. Older members will know of his racing career, I knew him as the third member of the group who were featured in "Heart of the Country" (ITV) several years ago. This was billed as a version of Last of the Summer Wine, in the days when he used to meet up with Fred Dale and Norm Sargisson at Aston Cantlow. Liz Gardner still has a copy of the video, I think. 75th Anniversary dinner Here's the details for the big bash in December. Tickets are selling quite well, please note there is a deadline of 1st August, so get those cheques in to Cavin quickly. Open 10, Saturday July 5th Phil Galpin is asking for a bit of help with this annual event. If you are available, contact him on 01926 336957. Ted & Doris Challenge Trophy Dates are set for this event, the TT will be the 6th August, and the 4 mile run is on the Thursday of the following week, 14th. Start times around 6.45 each event. The presentation after the run will be accompanied by the traditional barbecue and drinks, courtesy of Alan and Pat Edwards.
